Research&Planning: Film Poster Analysis

From the poster we can tell the genre of the film straight away due to the picture used and the font used. The picture used is a master shot given us the sense that the person in the picture is the man character of the film. The use of blood, the position the girl is stood and all the mise-en-scene used on the picture helps show the genre of the film. From the position of the girl we get a scene of the narrative as we can see that she is possessed in some way, also the tagline 'believe in him' tells us that she is being possessed by somebody, who is a male. The dark grey colours and the bright red also gives us the sense of genre.
From the poster we know that the audience of the film will be for both male and female over the age of 15. The mise-en-scene, title font, colours and the tagline 'believe in him' tell us that the audience will be an older audience because it is an horror film.

The medium close up of the mans face shows us that he is the main character of the film. His face has been made too look gray and bright blue eyes so you are drawn in to look at his eyes. This helps show the genre of the film as there is use of dark colours, his facial expression and the way his eyes stand out and their positioning. The use of dark red colours round his face give a sense of horror and blood. From the poster we don't get much narrative of what the film is about. From the mise-en-scene used on the poster, the font of the title and the tagline 'you can only defeat it when you believe' gives use a sense of what type of audience the film will have.  The audience seems to be male and female over the age of 15, I think it would more appeal to males 18 to 25.
