Horror Films can be based on peoples real experiences or they can be fictional.
Horror films are usually based in dark and lonely situations, playing on the effects which scare most people. Usually non-diegetic mood music is used to cause tension, and make a big build up to what is about to happen in the film.
Horror Films usually have a higher rating such as 15 or 18 so the target audience is smaller and would be teenagers and adults, so that children can not watch the films therefore be scared by them.
They usually include spirits, demons or characters that will tend to scare people, increasing the intensity of the film. They usually include scenes which make the audience jump and makes the audience feel more involved in the film.
Comedy Films
Comedy films are harder to find features which repeat in other comedy films. Comedy films contain humour of different sorts if the comedy film is for adults the film usually contains adult humour and sexual references which children wouldnt understand, and this humour usually makes the rating of the film to 15. Children comedy films contain humour which is stupid and more obvious. Such as characters falling over or hurting themselves, these comedies are open to all audiences making the target audience a wider range.
Action Films
In Actions films theres usually scenes of violence (fighting, uses of weapons) and strong language. A feature which is in a lot of action films is scenes involving car chases and deaths. Most actions are usually aimed at 15 or over because of the scenes which are in them. But you can also get children action films such as 'Spy Kids' which usually contains fictional characters so that they arent as violent as adult action films.
Romance Films
Romance films contain a love story between two people. Through many of Romance films there is a sad, heart felt themes which makes you be able to relate and understand the characters. With story lines which you may have been in yourself so they you feel for the characters in the film even more than you would in any other film genre. Romance films are usually rated 12 as they may not suitable for younger as they may not understand the story or there might be slight sexual references.
